“ RESTAURANT REVIEW: On a recent getaway to St. Augustine, we made reservations at Old City House restaurant for 'fine dining night,' and we were very pleased with our selection. As part of a B&B, it's on the small side, but it was nicely decorated for Christmas and we didn't wait long to be seated. They brought out bread to start, after cocktails, which was served with butter and garlic. The creamed mushroom soup was good as were our entrees. I ordered the vegetarian lasagna which was beautifully plated and very tasty. My husband had veal meatloaf with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He was pleased. Our son had lamb lollipops which he enjoyed but said were fairly run of the mill. We finished the meal with espressos, nicely served with sugar sticks, and coconut cake which was delicious. It was a pricey dinner, but the food was good, it was well presented, and the service was attentive and pleasant. All in all, an excellent meal. ”
“ Very nice end to a magical tour of St Augustine during the Christmas season. The food selection was quite fitting to the time of the year. Excellent choices as well as the service provided. Very attentive ensuring that your expectations were met. The decor and atmosphere fit right in with the evening's events. Highly recommended for a private party or just a couple for a lovely night out. ”
“ They accommodated us at a table outside on their romantic patio. The food and service were both wonderful. My gin martini was perfectly wet. My husband had a chenin blanc viognier blend that he loved. We split the ceviche which was ample and came in an elegant glass. My husband had the crab crusted flounder special and I had the Cioppino. We split the tre-leche bread pudding (again ample). Our waiter (Escoban?) was so pleasant and perfectly well mannered for this service. The crowd is definitely an older crowd. ”
“ Family in town on Friday. We had reservations for five at 6:15 on Friday. Found a parking spot on the street just a few spots south of the restaurant. It's pay parking using the app. Our table was ready for us. Our waiter was Jorge - he took excellent care of our group. Started with drinks. Well prepared and tasty. We shared an escargot appetizer - nice garlic butter sauce with some toasted bread to soak up the yummy sauce. Fresh fish was halibut- son and daughter got that blackened came with mashed potatoes and asparagus (it was delicious). Daughter-in-law got the Chappino - excellent tomato sauce with plenty of seafood- she really enjoyed it. Wife got their chicken which comes with risotto ( it was so good). I got the crab cakes (good but some of the other meals tasted better). The fresh asparagus was amazing great taste tender well prepared. For dessert we shared their key-lime tart very yummy. So an excellent meal. Nice restaurant great food and service. Yes a-bit pricey but for a special occasion it's worth it. ”
“ This was an incredible experience. First time! Food was excellent but the service shined above all. Our server's name was Mack. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the menu and his suggestions couldn't miss! Additionally, his ability to communicate spoke VOLUMES on his experience, costumer-service-wise especially... okay. Best espresso martini in st Augustine. Dessert was also incredible. Got the chocolate mousse. ”
“ I'm going to rate based on this place itself. The ambiance is amazing and could be romantic. But casual. The food was very good but a bit of a limited menu. They do Have specials that were very good. Service is on point. It is pricey but worth the cost. Has its own parking which is limited but downtown. Attached to a beautiful hotel B&B. Probably won't be back due to the price. But go for it ”
“ Amazing food and service. Highly recommend!! Ladies trip and the four of us all had amazing food lamb chops, pork chops pictured, crab cakes and the shrimp crusted flounder! ”
“ We visited St. Augustine just after Christmas, so we made reservations ahead of time to ensure we had a great meal. And we absolutely loved our visit to Old City House Restaurant. Our table was ready when we arrived, and we were seated immediately. Our server came over, and when my companion mentioned she was torn between two wines, the server offered a tasting of each. Perfect. I went with a lovely cocktail but have no idea what it was called. My friend and I split the red & golden beet salad with goat cheese to start - I love a place that pre-splits it for you, and the fried panko goat cheese bites were amazing. For my meal I had the Cioppino - essentially a seafood stew. I could not believe how much seafood was piled in there; it had shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels and fish all in tomato broth. I, of course, had to ask for more of their fresh bread because I could not let a drop of that sauce go to waste. The whole dish was incredibly delicious, and so filling that I did not have room for dessert. All in all a wonderful meal in a very festive place, and I would definitely go back for special occasions if I were in the area. ”
